Counselor's Corner

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) or Social Personal Competencies (SPC) is an integral part of education and human development.  Through SEL/SPC students acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

SEL/SPC can be a significant part of a student’s overall education.  Targeting the development of these skills can help prepare students for a productive future.

Every month, BCE focuses on teaching, learning and modeling a good Character Trait.

Character Strong: BCE will be using the curriculum from Character Strong to teach all students each character trait.

• Students learn daily about the various colleges/universities that our staff have attended during the morning announcements
• We celebrate Generation Texas for a week in November.  Students learn about various colleges, military branches and other higher education opportunities.  Students also have the opportunity to dress up as what they would like to be when they grow up.
• CHS Career & Technical Education (CTE) department presents to our students on the various programs available at our high school.
• Career Day - On this day, many presenters from various careers, come and present to all of our students.
